{Luxe Living Rooms & Lofts}

I recently purchased new furniture for my home and am enamored with my setup!
It just feels so luxurious and grown up!

Full disclosure: this is the first full-price read: expensive (at least to me)
sofa I've ever purchased in my life.

I STILL love a bar cart.

Nicole Miller nailhead chair...been running all over town to EVERY
HomeGoods to find a match, but no luck yet.

A little taste of my loft sanctuary life. . .
Above, a small bouquet of flowers left over from my bestie's bridal shower. . .
countdown to the fall wedding in October!!
A closer look. . .made sure I filled this shelf with some of my favorite art
and pretty little things that just make me smile

Not sure when I'll get around to wearing these shoes,
so I decided to display them instead.

Gotta have libations in every other room. . .
boozy guests are happy guests!

:Design Inspiration:

I love peacocks! And I recently discovered this artwork at Pier 1 and fell head over heels! The only question now is how soon to buy and where to hang since I'm moving. Ahhh, decisions, decisions...

More peacock design inspiration...

:Accessories R Us:

Recently, I've had two friends inform me that they know how "serious" I am about my accessories. This made me laugh because I really don't think they're that big of a deal. But maybe this picture disproves my thoughts on the matter? *shrugs* (I do, however, enjoy the fact that they do double-duty as actual wearable and decorative art.)

:Diva Style at Home:

Sooo....I'm thinking the vignette pictured below looks WAY better than the one posted here.

Also...check out my new art work, copped from this AB+L event. I hope to have my work featured at the next one in DC--which I'm very excited about!--so stay tuned! Will keep you posted!

The piece done at the top entitled "Skin 1" was done by artist Aniekan Udofia. Read more on him here. He is amazingly talented!! The bottom collage of one of my favorite musicians, Erykah Badu, was created by Peter Chang.

Close-up

Closer

I can't get enough of these paintings. I'm running out of places to put them! They are just so colorful in their invitation to share a part of the artists' culture. I encourage you to click any of the links in this post and support the Zimbabwe Artists' Project! A hand-written story from each artist is attached to the back of the original painting. I think it's a fantastic way to support an individual looking to thrive off of doing one of the things they love best--creating art!

:New Art Around the House:

I got a lot of nice surprises during the Thanksgiving holiday at home. One of them was this piece of art. My favorite uncle gave it to me, and I adore it so! It's a piece of framed tapestry with an Egyptian-themed image printed on it.  It apparently came from a private collection, and I hung it up almost immediately. You like?

Artwork I've Purchased

The following are just some photos of original pieces of artwork I puchased that reflect my style and my love of color and my culture.

These helped fund a really good cause, the Zimbabwe Artists Project. For more info, visit http://www.zimbabweartistsproject.org/.

I found this one, done by an independent artist, at a Starbuck's near where I work. I had to have it!
The piece below is something that my hairstylist's mom painted. I purchased it from her and had it framed.
My friend Tiyadk did this. She is a fabulous artist; she also creates jewelry. Learn more about her at http://www.tiyadk.com/.
