{Weekly Blooms}

I had my Real Housewives of Atlanta season premiere viewing party last weekend, and it was tons of fun per the usual. How can you not love NeNe "When I walk in a room, I own it!" Leakes, honey!? These hydrangeas are some florals I picked up from Trader Joe's to liven up the space. They're such gorgeous flowers!

The Set-Up...

The Sangria...(sooooo delicious!)

The Party-Starters!...
Sadly, Andy Cohen didn't give my little soiree
the desired shout-out on Watch What Happens,
but alas, we kiki'ed well into the midnight hour!

{What I've Been Up To....}

I recently moved to a new place and am SUPER excited with all the space (and awesome natural light, too!) that I've acquired! My bedroom is huge, and I'm turning my bathroom into a Caribbean island oasis. See for yourself...

Bathroom is cozy with a ton of room, and I am LOVING the fact
that I never have to close my blinds due to the enormous
amount of privacy via the foliage in back.
~
Bonus: the shower has, like, 8 settings.
One of them feels like I'm standing under an Amazonian mist.
I sooo wasn't kidding about that island oasis part.
~
PS: The art came from my birthday trip to Belize earlier this year.
Perfect complement to walls that have been dipped in sunshine...
(fresh flowers courtesy of Trader Joe's, a short walk from the house!)

Moving right along....
If you saw this post, you know that I now have
designs on Mr. Henri Bendel. His bags are my new obsession.
...So, when I placed an online order not long ago,
I was pleased that they included a shopping bag in my shipment.
~
Their branding is fantastic! So much so, I decided to
frame the bag in a Ribba purchased from Ikea...

Lastly, my seating area...currently under construction,
but coming along quite nicely for the time being...
it's awaiting an ottoman that I need to go pick up
from storage...oh, and a pillow or two!

The Storage Wars Continue....

Really, the quest for perfect storage when you own as many cosmetics as I do is neverending. But I revel in it. Today, some before and after photos of a switcheroo I completed last night...
Prior to utilizing what you see below, I had been using the
acrylic shoe boxes found at The Container Store (above)...
(PS--The Container Store has TONS of beautiful acrylic storage options.)

Before the infiltration...

then BAM!...

VOILA...MAGIC!
~
I just LOVE acrylic...it looks so chic and sophistocated in my opinion...
As you can see, the bottom right corner of each of my palettes is already labeled
(I did this a while ago to give me an idea of the color choices in each)
and this setup will definitely make them more readily accessible,
so now they should see more use...it's the small things that delight me so!
~
Thanks to Erin for the idea!

:Diva Style at Home:

Sooo....I'm thinking the vignette pictured below looks WAY better than the one posted here.

Also...check out my new art work, copped from this AB+L event. I hope to have my work featured at the next one in DC--which I'm very excited about!--so stay tuned! Will keep you posted!

The piece done at the top entitled "Skin 1" was done by artist Aniekan Udofia. Read more on him here. He is amazingly talented!! The bottom collage of one of my favorite musicians, Erykah Badu, was created by Peter Chang.

:Diva Style at Home:

As in referenced in this post, I attended a Pottery Barn decorating class on Sunday.
~ ~ ~
See that miniature glass vase and those pink and white flowers? I got them at a 10% discount for attending the class. The moment the instructor pulled them out for one of her table vignettes, I was obsessing over them. I am totally in love with the color combo of turquoise and pink right now. *cue "pink and turquoise" to the tune of Wiz Khalifa's "black and yellow" LOL*

Here are some more rooms consisting of my new favorite color couplet
from the luxurious blog House of Turquoise:

Aren't these interiors from House of Turquoise absolutely swoon worthy?
I'm in LOVE!

:My Weekend:

I had a fantastic weekend! Celebrated the 30th birthday of a divar-rific friend (I'm up next! YAY! for us February babies!), went to a Pottery Barn decorating class Sunday morning, shopped a little, re-watched Lipstick Jungle (was actually a great show that got dumped by NBC:-( ) and chillaxed. It was sublimely awesie. While "watching" the Superbowl--I was actually supposed to be at a football soiree, but promptly collapsed on my sofa when I got home from being out that morning/afternoon--I cooked dinner (turkey burger) and randomly (not unlike me) began working on a kitchen cabinet organization project. Scenes from my weekend below...

Sunday Brunch--Barbecued salmon with wasabi mashed potatoes,
onion strings and asparagus cooked to perfection at The Cheesecake Factory
...Beginnings of my weekend kitchen org project. One of my fabulous friends is coming over on Tuesday to help me complete this endeavor:
Yes. All of this came out of my KITCHEN cabinets
(not the vacuum). What the hell?

My dining room table after my kitchen cabinets threw up all over it.
#le sigh

The beginning of order....my bottom cabinets are a hot ass mess, though.

Disclaimer: If any of the photos seen in this post
are slightly crooked, blame it on the al-al-a-al-a-alcohol. :-)
I was sippin' on some syzzurp. #dontjudgeme
FYI, though--this is DAMN good syzzurp!
Drink responsibly!

:New Around the House:

I have amazing brain power. Right before I saw these, I was around the corner thinking...."Why can't I ever find any glamourous, vogue-esque art of Black women here...Today's the day."  And BAM! There it was, lol. I was awe-struck, and they were implanted into my cart immediately. Don't you just love?!?!? Two words: Home Goods.

These beautiful turquoise urns cost $7.99 each at Home Goods. So elegant and chic! Love!

It's raining beads on Buddha...I tried not to buy him, but the third time's a charm. Couldn't leave him--he was meant for me. :-)

See the fish? I decided this was symbolic since I'm a Pisces...we are dreamers.

New Masks...

Got a third horn...following the "things are better in odd numbers" rule of thumb...

My very own little milk glass project....poured paint into these clear receptacles, and VOILA!...instant art project, though the black one didn't turn out as planned.  Up next: a bright yellow one! I plan on going to Lowe's or Home Depot and looking for some of the cheap returned paint to finish a few of my other containers. Hope to find a shade of hot pink! Thanks for this idea, Get It Girl!

:Around the House:

Lately, I've been obsessing over rearranging my bookcase.  On Sunday, I finally did a little somethin' somethin'. I was pleased...but some part of me still wants thise bookcase to be white (think the Billy from Ikea).  I just think it would make the accessories (and books) pop more, especially if I wallpapered the backs with a snazzy pattern. BUT...my dining room table...which I LOOOOOVE (as well as other key elements) are dark wood, and even though I'm all about taking risks (see black wall), I'm thinkin' that might look crazy. Thoughts?

Finally got around to rehanging this mirror on Saturday (it was a very productive weekend :-})...I was giddy with delight...seeing that it almost fell off the damn wall over a month ago. I used this mirror hanging kit from Target, and I wasn't planning on the wire showing, but it actually gave it an interesting little touch, so I let it be.

More from Home Goods...I LOVE the way this diffuses candlelight...pardon the half-painted electrical outlet...I got a wee bit carried away with my chalkboard painting project and have yet to remedy that little snafu.

:Vintage Delights:

It felt like Christmas at work yesterday when the mailman came and delivered not one, but FOUR packages for moi. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! I was trapped inside my house last week. And apparently the remedy for cabin fever is online shopping. So sue me.  I racked up quite well. I blame Kay in Apartment 412 for my Etsy splurges. She got me with this post. *sigh* Alas, the money is spent now, and I rarely return a purchase for the home. As a matter of fact, everything has already claimed its very own space in the abode. If you're in the market for vintage wares for the home, High Street Market might be a good look for you.

I'm a sucker for gold-toned vintage.

There will be a notepad clipped to this later tonight.

Ceramic birds now live on my bookshelf.

Vintage Ombre Bowl

So saucy.

:Restlessly Rearranging:

I'm always coming up with new ways to group or display objects. With the aftermath of the blizzard setting in during the past week, things were no different.
I took that tray from my bedroom...I decided it made the ottoman/side table look snazzier.

I purchased the frame shown here on my trip to Ikea last week...the greeting cards in it materialized from a minor snafu, so I got them for free! As you can see, I decided to turn them into a little art project. Cute, eh?
