:Current Design Project:

Before shots from one of my current design projects... I'm currently working on the foyer, but waiting for some larger furniture items to arrive. The owner doesn't want to paint right now, but once he does, it's going down! Basement. I'm also trying to encourage him to look into fabric wallcoverings. I think they'd be a lovely touch for the entryway.
Go big or go home, right!?

Needs items for door-flanking. ASAP.

Perfect little corner for a seating/utility bench.

I love the sheen on the wooden floors, lol. Pretty!

Door from a cabinet we chose. It's divinely delicious!

Another area I'll be adding more of the Exquisite Interiors touch to soon...
Can't wait to pick out new chandeliers for the space! Stay Tuned.

Ikat print pillow I picked out at Z Gallerie. Sale find! I originally chose for the foyer,
but I liked the look of it on this chair in my client's living room...another area I'll
be working on shortly.

:Weekend Project:

I was returning a rug to Home Goods and found an ornate yellow frame along the way. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I can't say no to ornate and flashy home decor. So I bought it. And decided to spray paint it white...it wasn't until I had gotten about half-way through the project that I discovered I hadn't taken any "before" pictures--you know, to illustrate how some glossy white spray paint can turn gleam into bling. Take note:

Here is the photo montage I mentioned in an earlier post this week! I will probably add more pictures as my travels continue...I plan on filling the entire wall up! Please see the before and after shots.

Bookcase Project

Ok, so today while I was at work, I got so inspired while looking at different design blogs. I decided that it was time for me to "renovate" my bookcase and was heavily anticipating this venture prior to even reaching my house. The shelf was in need of a more "grown-up" look, so I grouped all of my books together according to the binding/jacket color (black, brown, blue, green, etc.), and proceeded to downsize some of the design accessories taking up space on the case. I am rather pleased with the outcome, and though I am not at all a clutter-bug, I do feel that my efforts have made the case look much neater and more pulled together! I feel really good about this project, not to mention it took some patience, and those who know me know that patience is not my strongest suit...I'm working on it, though. :-)

Tray makeover

It seems that I have become extra partial to zebra prints. That said, I decided to create an inlay for a tray (I LOVE trays) that I got from West Elm some time ago. The material that I used was cut from a gift bag (My birthday was on Feb. 22!) that I received what else--a gift!--in. My friend, the gift-giver, already fathomed that I would do something extraordinary with the bag!...And what do you know?! She was right! I cut out the size of material I wanted to use and glued it to the inside bottom surface of the tray. Check the before and after photos. As you can see, I am utilizing the newly customized tray to hold my bottles of eau de toilette and parfum.

My first reupholstery

So, I caught a small dose of cabin fever and decided to put it to good use, hence the completion of my first reupholstery project. I have been wanting to give this bench an upgrade for some time, but I could not find any crisp black & white zebra fabrics. Lo and behold, I'm at Target last night and I see this divine zebra print shower curtain...I swear they should pay me for advertising for them! Please see the before and after photos below.

Artwork I "made"

I was having trouble finding glamourous black & white photos of Black women to hang in my bedroom, so one night I got a hold of an old Trace magazine (a gem for luxurious looking artsy photos!) and a paper cutter some guy was handing out to random folks in Adams Morgan one night almost two years ago. I couldn't begin to fathom what type of mischief I was in for! LOL. I went crazy with it, cutting out everything that caught my eye, including the beautiful photography above. I thought of the black & white frames, also seen above, that I had used to display a couple of my published magazine articles from a few years back in, and I immediately dislodged them from the frames, and voila, instant art! That very top frame was a different story though. It housed a piece of artwork, and it was HELL trying to manipulate it, as well as the matting, with the paper cutter, but what can I say...it looks pretty good for my novice efforts. I was rather impressed with myself and my creativity.
