{Started From the Bottom. . .}

Now, we're here!
You know I love to streamline (and I loathe hanging/overdoor shoe racks),
so I paid The Container Store a little visit over the weekend.
I organized all my other shoes a while back,
and it was time for me to complete the last stretch.
As you can see, they don't all fit (and I still have a few more in boxes),
but this will do for now. This is what I purchased to display my stilettos.

~~~
In other storage news, I recently completed a comprehensive makeup storage project. You can see past makeup storage "experiments" here and here.
. . .Aaaaand, I tied it all together in this little number from Ikea.
{Beautylicious Mondays}
Just a little something I purchased over the weekend. I sampled a couple of the colors today, and they were highly pigmented without a base. I can't wait to swatch and create a look using a paint pot!
(Pardon the amateur photo...I took a quick snap just to
showcase the goods for your viewing pleasure.)
{Haul}
You already know how I feel about sales...
Sephora recently had an end of year sale, and I made off like a bandit. Aaaand, I was also lucky enough to receive an additional 20% off due to my VIB status. That was exciting! It's the little things! :-) That discount was practically like getting a few of the items that I purchased for my favorite price...FREE.$99!!
Pictured above are some brushes I bought, as well as five lippies and the Philosophy Miracle Worker set, which includes full-size products (oh, btw, those are samples to the left)...WHEEEEEE!!!
{The Return of Beautylicious Mondays}
 First off, Happy 2013! Wishing all of my fabulous readers the best year yet!
~
Now. The Randomness. We have to talk....about this Schick Hydro Silk razor. I have absolutely fallen head over heels in love with it. I never imagined I'd be doing a post on this, but I seriously could not stop thinking about it--forreal--so I had to share with my bosom beauties--you!
You may remember this post where I lauded a new product I'd discovered, which I still use every day...well, this razor is another holy grail grooming product! For me, it literally replaces creams and waxing. And when I say waxing, I speak of waxing everythang. Except the hair on my face, teehee.
I received this lil' shaver in a Birchbox last year, and I owe it to you guys to put you on if you don't already know. I use razors quite a bit for my legs and underarms, but haven't been too keen on using them in my bikini area, where I usually opt for a hair removal cream. Creams always seem to give me a smoother finish, but they can be pretty harmful if they creep into the wrong crevice or you leave on too long. I have a story about this that I'll spare you, lol. Not to mention they contain crazy chemicals like the lye found in hair relaxers. Eek.
~
This razor is also AWESOME when it comes to nicks and cuts. I've gotten some pretty bad gashes in the past, especially when doing one of my rush shaving jobs, but I haven't gotten more than a mere nick using this. See Exhibit A (and that's a recent shaving prick situated right below my knee).
At the expense of sounding like an infomercial--and I am certainly not being paid for this post--I encourage you to pick this up next time you're out and about--and most definitely if you're looking for a razor that will hydrate all ya lady parts, OKAAAAY. And it's weird, but I feel like this razor keeps hair at bay at least a little bit longer than other shaving methods/tools I've used in the past, and it feels like the hair grows back softer. Try it and see for yourself. Happy Hydro-packin' and Happy New Year!
My weekend was very eventful...
I got the opportunity to work on a new client! WHEEEEEE!!!
After our session, you know me...I did some styling and posing...but of course...
 Hint of a smile...but she is BEAMING on the inside, rest assured.
Final rendition...
Simply FIERCE. WERK!
:Beautylicious Mondays:
I've gotten totally addicted to gel manicures...
I mean, these things last like 2-3 weeks (so badass).
...
I just couldn't resist posting all of this kickass nail candy.
You see me trying to be all creative and cutesy with it, right? Lol.
This magnetic set actually didn't turn out the way it should have, but the design was swanky.
Simple. Pretty in pink.
~
I love this concept because when I use regular polish,
I have to paint my nails around every 2 or 3 days. That SUCKS!
Thinking about buying this. After a few uses,
it'd virtually pay for itself with what I spend on these manicures.
It's on my wish list, so if anyone wants to gift me, holla! :-}
~
Bonus Flick:
These Pro Longwear shadows from MAC = da business!
In the photo above, I'm rockin' Sunny Outlook on my lid
and Make Your Mark blended into the crease.
I've purchased about 10 of them so far, and I'm very pleased with
the pigment vibrancy and the quality/staying power (sans eye primer).
:Beautylicious Mondays {Tuesday Edition}:
I purchased this a few months back, and HAD to do a review! I can't say enough good things about Tarte's The Miracle of Maracuja! Tarte is the self-proclaimed "high-performance naturals" cosmetic company, and prior to getting this, I had only had experience with one of their products, which was their mineral powder bronzer in Hotel Heiress.
~
At any rate, this 8-piece set (which actually ended up being 10-piece, due to 2 rather generous sample products they included :-}) contains the following:
1 1.7 oz. bottle of pure maracuja oil
1 bamboo blush/foundation brush (I've found it to be dual-purpose)
1 maracuja bouncy airblush blush in shimmering poppy
1 beauty & the box eyeshadow quad, envoke the smoke
1 lights, camera, lashes! mascara
1 maracuja divine shine lipgloss in peaceful
1 maracuja creaseless concealer (I chose deep for my skin tone)
 1 cashmere waterproof gliding smooth eyeliner in black
~
Lipgloss in Peaceful
Creaseless Concealer in Deep
Swatch from L to R: Dark Ash, Purple Fog, Silver Mist, Pink Cloud
Bouncy Airbrush Blush in Shimmering Poppy
~
I seriously can't say anything bad about any of the products included. The oil is full-size, and that in itself makes the set a steal and an awesome deal! Felt great going onto my skin. The brush is also the bomb--the fibers feel silky and luxurious against my skin. I was also extremely pleasantly surprised with the blush. I normally don't really do cream blushes, but the color payoff in this one was wonderful, and being a brown girl, I was especially happy about that! Sadly, I haven't yet had a chance to use the eyeshadow quad, but the color choices seemed decent (see photo below). The mascara seems pretty good, but you just need to take your time putting it on in order to really define your lashes. The lipgloss was okay--moisturizing and didn't seem too sticky, but really nothing special in my opinion; it's a peachy nude color with lots of shine. I also haven't tried the concealer yet...probably due to the fact that I'm mostly a creature of habit when it comes to the foundations and concealers I use. The eyeliner is terrific, though!
...
What do you think? Did you purchase this steal of a bargain luxury set?
:Mad Men Monday, Anyone?:
Last night, a friend of mine who owns an event management company, ingeniousEVENTS, threw a Mad Men viewing party at Lounge 201, a spot in DC. ...So you know I was on my Joan steez...
I must admit, I'm enamored with her style and own quite a few outfits in the way of this seductive (but not overtly) silhouette that I've deemed "work wear". I just know what I look good in. Additionally, Joan has a way of being sultry, yet professional all at once, and I love it!
~PS...I got no one to take a picture of my outfit. *sad face*
Here are a couple images I did take, though...
My look...a classic red lip was only appropriate. Ruby Woo.
Yes, MAC finally got me with this one!
You can't really see the fake moles I applied,
but rest assured, they're present! My flash was a little too
aggressive on my camera phone...pardon the haziness.
Did my nails before the event. Bright red would have been better, I suppose,
but I just couldn't stifle the creativity in me.
Close-up.
I sipped on a cocktail customized for the event, the "Je m'appelle Betty".
~
I'll leave you with a few images of classic Joan...
Just...smokin'.
:Scenes from Last Night:
It's Restaurant Week in my city! And you know I LOOOOOVE to eat! One of my favorite style bloggers, Vivi of Heart, Print & Style, and I had dinner at Sax last night, a 9700-square foot restaurant/lounge with a 20-foot enclosed infinity stage directly above the 1st floor bar.
It was our first time there (we had previously been talking about planning our excursion, though) and eat we did! We had a three course meal--1st course for me: American Wagyu beef sliders, 2nd course: a succulent salmon dish , 3rd course: Saxual Chocolate cake (the vanilla ice cream was the business!); oh, and this was all washed down with a very tasty cocktail, concocted with Grey Goose pear vodka, St.Germain and lemon juice, the Le Deux.
--The second course should be here, but I forgot to
photograph before I started to eat it. Sorry, guys!--
Moving right along to dessert...
On Monday nights, this intimate space has a Burlesque show every 15 minutes--think Eyes Wide Shut meets Do You Think You Can Dance?--so we got the opportunity to take advantage of seeing it. I mean, who can say no to dinner theatre?
~
The decor here is very heavily influenced by the Baroque period--lots of gold leaf, ornate mouldings, tufted damask banquettes, red velvet and over the top chandeliers.
Mmmm Hmmm.
This chandelier was so gorgeous! It was in the entry way, and I thought
the lighting in this particular space was sooo sublime. Absolutely perfect!
~
And lastly...
I wouldn't be me if I didn't include some photos of my eye makeup for the evening.
I used MAC's Outre (inner eyelid), Brun (outer lid/crease) and Flip (highlight):
